Joaquin’s artist statement
From the flickering lights of the television screen to the vibrant hues of the canvas, my journey as an artist has been one of relentless exploration and creative evolution. Beginning my adult life as an aspiring actor, I graced the sets of shows like “America’s Most Wanted,” MTV’s “Undressed,” and “Hang Time,” as well as performing in skits for “The Jay Leno Show.” Yet, amidst the whirlwind of casting calls and performances, a different passion quietly took root during my time working at a bagel shop: the captivating world of acrylic and oil painting.
Parallel to my acting pursuits, I delved deeply into music, collaborating with talented musicians across Los Angeles. My songwriting journey led to notable accomplishments, including contributions to Robin Schulz’s “Naked” and David Guetta’s “Listen” featuring John Legend. Despite my love for acting, I realized that my true fulfillment lay not in portraying the stories of others, but in creating and achieving my own. This revelation redirected my path towards visual arts and music composition.
My artistic endeavors have since found homes in various galleries across Los Angeles, Burbank, and Santa Barbara. In painting, I seek to uncover the unseen, striving to present a style or pattern that defies conventional aesthetics. Each day, I embrace the canvas with a sense of discovery, driven by the quest to create something uniquely original. Whether continuing an existing series or embarking on a new one, my work reflects a commitment to innovation and a passion for the uncharted territories of artistic expression.
As I continue to write music and explore new dimensions of painting, my art remains a testament to the fusion of experiences that have shaped me. I am dedicated to the pursuit of greatness, not as a performer of roles, but as a creator of enduring works that speak to the essence of human creativity and imagination.
